Welcome to GrittyGod
Hi. I’m Martha G. Brady. If you’re finding me here, you may know me from MarthaGrimmBrady.com, or further back, from GrittyGrace.com. Welcome to my new spot.
Here’s the short version of what has happened: Ron passed away March 14, 2026, the week after he turned 88. He is with Jesus now. Knowing him, he is probably dancing up a storm, or sitting at a table enjoying all the food! Of course, he is spending much of his time worshipping God. It must be amazing being able to thank Him face-to-face for the gift of salvation!
It was nearly 12 years after his first stroke. I thought I was as prepared as a person can be for his death. In some ways I was. But I still find myself reaching the end of a thought, or hearing news about a friend, and wanting to go tell him — and then I remember. He is gone. It is the end of May as I write this, and that still stops me cold.
Since he died, I have been busy in the way that death makes you busy. Paperwork. Moving to a smaller apartment down the hall from the one we shared. I am nearly settled. I will be glad when those milestones are behind me, because honestly, I don’t think I have even begun to grieve yet. There has not been room for it.
So why GrittyGod?
I had originally planned to continue to use my name for my blog. But my son-in-law raised a reasonable concern about security, so I scrapped that. I kept coming back to gritty — a word I’ve used before — because it’s honest. Life is gritty. This past few years have been gritty. And God does not flinch from any of it.
He hung on a cross for people who did not deserve it. That is about as gritty as it gets. And the fact that He would forgive us — knowing full well how holy He is and how far short we fall — that still staggers me. He knows what hard feels like from the inside. He is not watching from a distance. He goes through it with us. That is the idea behind the name. And that is what I expect we will be talking about here.
I’m glad you’re here. If there are topics you’d like me to address, let me know. I have a good number of old posts I’ll be working through and adding over time — they’re connected to this site but not yet linked in a way you can find them easily. Bear with me. If I ever get this blog online, I’ll get working on it and get my new posts up along with updated old ones.
Looking forward to our time here.
